KACY ROBINSON, M.S.

Founder/Professional Canine Handler

Kacy Robinson has been involved in search and rescue/recovery missions since she was a child. Growing up in a law enforcement family, she was privileged to attend numerous search and rescue/recovery missions throughout Utah. Her first recovery mission was a search for Ted Bundy’s victim, Sue Curtis.

Kacy attended the College of Eastern Utah obtaining her associate of science degree in Criminal Justice. There she also attended the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services Crime Scene Academy and is certified as a Crime Scene Analyst.

She then completed her bachelor’s degree in Communications through the University of Utah. Following which, she attended the Henry Lee College of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven where she obtained her master’s degree in Computer Forensics. While attending, she was the Lead Archivist on the Robert F. Kennedy Assassination Project.

When not searching, Kacy works as the Fatality Review Specialist for the state of Utah. She is also a Digital Forensic Analyst aiding law enforcement agencies, attorneys, corporations, businesses and private individuals with data recovery and digital forensics.

Kacy spent twelve years with the oldest and largest search and rescue organization in the state of Utah with her two canine partners, Uintah and Wahsatch, both Golden Retrievers. In 2017, Kacy and her search partner Bret Sayer, established Fide Canem Cold Case, Inc. the first search and recovery team focusing exclusively on cold case missing persons and evidence recovery. Since establishing the team, they have assisted on numerous cold cases throughout the world.

She and her canine partners are specialized in Avalanche Recovery, Disaster Search and Rescue/Recovery, Wilderness Search and Rescue/Recovery, Urban Search and Rescue/Recovery, Water Recovery (Deep, Shallow and Shoreline), Evidence Detection and Recovery, and Human Remains Detection.

Kacy’s extensive knowledge of forensics, crime scene containment, management and preservation, and canine handling make her distinctly qualified to serve law enforcement and the community in this unique capacity.

SEARCH AND RECOVERY

There are many different types of search and rescue teams throughout the world. Each team fills a specific and much needed area of expertise. The types of teams are as varied as the teams themselves providing qualified searchers and canines for live missing, wilderness search and rescue or recovery, disaster recovery, avalanche rescue or recovery, and tracking/trailing.

Noticing there was a need specifically for qualified search and recovery canine teams to locate those missing after cases have gone cold, Fide Canem Cold Case, Inc. was established. Members of Fide Canem Cold Case, Inc. are dedicated to providing their expertise in locating missing individuals for whom there is no active search taking place.

All team members have either law enforcement or crime scene experience and can assist with both civil and criminal cases.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Members of Fide Canem Cold Case, Inc. train constantly to maintain a high degree of search and recovery proficiency.

Deployable anywhere, at a moment's notice to help locating missing persons, team members must maintain rigorous training schedules.

Training consists of all manner of human scent including both large and small scent sources from live scent to cadaver. Members also train on evidentiary sources should the need arise for evidence recovery during a particular case.

Members of law enforcement and other agencies are welcome to request a demonstration of our team abilities as well as attend training with the team.
